Tourism Partnership

As well as being the Destination Management Organisation (DMO), and front facing tourist information customer service representatives for the Bathurst region the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre (BVIC), BVIC also administers the Bathurst Region Tourism Partnership Program, a collaboration between sectors of the visitor economy from accommodation and tours, to retail and services. The objective of this program is to develop a robust and nimble tourism industry which increases its capacity through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Collaboration and promotion from a destination-based perspective is of critical importance to the Bathurst region. As an industry we have faced exceptional challenges in recent years, and challenge will always continue to be a part of the equation. The current macro-economic climate is certainly a difficult and often confusing one that is affecting consumer confidence, and which has the potential to negatively impact visitation. However, 2023/24 also offers a genuine opportunity for our region to benefit from the ongoing limitations on outbound international travel and the desire of domestic travellers for experiences in regional areas with recent research by Destination NSW suggesting that travel is increasingly being viewed as a non-discretionary item. This suggests that regional destination in close proximity to Sydney and offering a compelling product offering may stand to benefit from the current economic situation. To fully capitalise upon this opportunity requires a strategic and unified approach, and this is precisely the intent of the tourism partnership program. All funds raised through the partnership program are used in Destination marketing, so a stronger program means a stronger voice in the marketplace.
