Social Media Best Practice Essentials
Use your social media to let people know about whats coming up
Any time you are having an event make sure to keep your social media updated. This doesn't have to only be major events, even live music or a regular trivia should be posted every time its on.
Share or re-post upcoming community events or community information
For Example
You can take advantage of local major events like the winter festival or Bathurst 1000. Share or re-post official date announcements and add your own promotion to the post. Eg, "looking forward to the winter festival, stop in our shop and pickup our special winter festival hot chocolate"
Be active on any messenger platforms you operate
If you run a Facebook, Instagram or twitter account for your business. You can reply to comments and messages left by your followers and customers. Being active in replying to them can not only help your customer relations with them, but can also helps build confidence in your business as potential customers can see past comments and know that you will look after them.
Have a social media strategy
Having a strategy doesn't have to be difficult. But some steps you should take are:
Identifying your target market (ideal customer), create a brand personality (What kind of language does your business use? What colours do you use in posts? How do you respond to people?), set achievable goals for your social media (eg. increase followers by 5% this year, or use social media to promote every event this year).
Post regularly
Figuring out when and how much to post can be a little tricky. But to get the most out of your social media you should try to make a post at least every day or every other day. Using Facebook Business Suite or other social media management tools to scheduled posts can help you manage your time and have posts ready to go throughout the week.
Find the right mix
Not every post you make has to be promotional. In fact most people will find it a bit off putting if every post you make is promotional. Take the time to make slice of life posts about your business and staff, or get engaged with local matters to engage with the community.
