The Bathurst Visitor Information Centre, popularly known as BVIC, is a part of Bathurst Regional Council and operates 363 days a year (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). BVIC is a Tier 1 accredited visitor information centre providing information servicing over 50,000 visitors annually with 53,158 in the last financial year pre-Covid. In addition, BVIC operates as the Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) for the Bathurst region and coordinates advertising, the consumer website bathurstregion.com.au, social media channels, marketing and public relations activities to raise consumer awareness and promote the region as a destination of choice. The DMO is commonly referred to as Bathurst Region Tourism. BVIC is a Quality Tourism Accredited Business under ATAP (the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program).
BVIC also administers the Bathurst Region Tourism Partnership Program, a collaboration between the sectors of the visitor economy from accommodation and tours to retail and services. The objective of this program is to develop a robust and nimble tourism industry which increases its capacity through collaboration and knowledge sharing. 2023/24 may well offer a unique window of opportunity to grow the profile of the Bathurst region and increase our market share. It is therefore more important than ever to act as a united industry. The Tourism Partnership Program is fundamental to this, as it allows us to act and plan as a Destination, bringing individual operators together and creating packages and collaborative campaigns that provide wide benefit. Simply put, we are far stronger together than we are separately. All funds raised through the partnership program are used in Destination marketing, so a stronger program means a stronger voice in the marketplace. To find out more, contact BVIC or download the current Tourism Partnership Prospectus.
The Bathurst Visitor Information Centre (BVIC) has been working hard throughout the whole period of the pandemic to ensure that the Bathurst region brand has remained visible and in the minds of prospective travellers. We have expanded our digital reach via our website and social media channels, added a wide range of new in-house promotional and information materials, worked with our public relations partners to ensure and ongoing flow of positive media coverage and generated new content to support marketing campaign activity. We have tried new approaches including partnering with events such as the Sydney Film Festival and Vivid and working with a series of social media influencers to drive interest in the families’ market in Western Sydney.
